Co-organized by the Japan Foundation and National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, “Beauty of Kogei: Art Crafts in Japan” exhibition was held from the 31st of May till the 21st of June 2014. The exhibition featured exquisite works of esteemed Japanese artists from various backgrounds. Six of the artists came down from Japan and were present during Prime Minister Abe’s visit to JCC as well as for the opening ceremony and symposium, held in conjunction with the exhibition.
The exhibition featured selected art crafts of 14 artists from various artistic backgrounds such as; dyeing, porcelain, stoneware, lacquer, metal casting and bamboo. The works of three holders of an important intangible cultural property, Mr Akihiro Maeta, Mr Kazumi Murose and Mr Noboru Fujinuma we also exhibited.
